When are Fire Sprinkler Required?

Learning the required codes and rules for fire sprinklers is very important to successfully complete your property. Some of the questions that can put a pause in your property are regarding fire sprinkler systems such as; when is a fire sprinkler system required, how many sprinkler heads are needed, is my property to small for fire sprinklers, etc.

Whether you have just created a newly built property or remodeled the property a fire sprinkler system is required when a fire area exceeds 5,000 square feet. Included in fire areas, extended areas beyond 12,000 square feet are required to have automatic fire sprinklers installed with maximum coverage.

As of 2011 The California Building Standards Commission adopted the California Residential Code Title-24, Part 2.5 stating: “An automatic residential fire sprinkler system shall be installed in townhouses and in one- and two-family dwellings”.
